SUMMARY:Science Outreach – Athabasca: Cow patty critters and how they are affected by parasiticides applied to cattle.
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Kevin Floate from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will be giving a talk for Science Outreach – Athabasca on March 28th at 7:00pm. The presentation will provide a general overview on thebiology and ecology of insects that breed in cattle dung. This includes a description of the different groups of insects that form the cow dung community\, the ecological services that this community provides\, and factors that affect community composition. Studies that assess the non-target effects of drug residues in dung of cattle treated with veterinary parasiticides will be discussed.Cow_Patty_Critters_Kevin_Floate_March28_2023
