In this webinar\, hear from presenters from OWC and Green Analytics\, the developers of the Ecosystem Services Value Calculator\, to explore this useful tool and discover how it can benefit your work. \nWe will dig into case studies of how the calculator can be used to communicate the benefits of ecological restoration projects\, tying together nature and economic prosperity. Experts from Green Analytics will be on hand to answer your questions about how this data-driven tool was built\, how to use the calculator\, and how to interpret results. \nThis event is hosted by the OWC and will be useful for government and non-profit organizations that work in areas related to water and land management\, environmental conservation\, or restoration.

SUMMARY:Wetlands of Lesser Slave Lake – A Wetlands in the Boreal Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Lesser Slave Watershed Council are teaming up to host an exciting two-day workshop all about wetlands in the Lesser Slave watershed! \nDay 1\nWe’ll start indoors with a deep dive into Alberta’s incredible variety of wetlands. You’ll learn about wetland identification and classification\, as well as wetland functions and values. The Swan River First Nation Kanawewim’nan Nikawiy Askiy Consultation team will join us to share their perspective on wetlands and the environment.\nIn the afternoon\, we’ll head outdoors to explore important community sites\, such as the Swan River First Nation medicinal gardens. The Kanawewim’nan Nikawiy Askiy Consultation team will share the story behind these spaces and highlight the impact of some of their recent environmental initiatives. \nDay 2\nOn day two\, we will put your new wetland knowledge into action as we identify different wetland types in the field and discuss the valuable services wetlands provide to the Lesser Slave Watershed and its communities. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, May 28th\, from 10AM – 2PM\, there is an opportunity to help AWC staff plant native species along the Tawatinaw River in the Town of Athabasca! If you are interested in joining us\, we will meet at the Athabasca Landing Trail parking lot next to the car wash at 10AM.\n\n\n\n\nThis event is recommended for ages 12+ and will take place rain or shine\, so please come prepared for all weather conditions! We suggest wearing close-toe shoes and long pants. Water\, gloves\, shovels will be provided. Please remember to bring a lunch and snacks!
