The Town of Hinton is excited to announce an upcoming community pitch-in event organized by the Beaver Boardwalk Oversight Committee – Hinton’s Thistle Pull!
Date: Sunday, August 17
Time: 10AM to 1PM
Location: Sutherland Ave Entrance at the Beaver Boardwalk
Thistle is an invasive weed that poses a threat to the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Beaver Boardwalk area. To tackle this issue and preserve the ecological balance, we invite you to join us in a volunteer effort to remove these unwanted intruders from the ecosystem.
Bring your own gardening tools or a favourite pair of gardening gloves. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the tools – we will also provide a limited supply of gloves to ensure everyone can participate, along with bags for disposal.
Once we’ve successfully pulled the thistles, rest assured that they will be appropriately disposed of to prevent any further spread. Together, we can help restore the natural beauty of the plant life and biodiversity within the Beaver Boardwalk area.
We value and appreciate your support in making this volunteer initiative a success. As a token of our gratitude, we have a limited supply of Thistle Pull T-shirts available to volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Let’s come together as a community to make a positive impact on our local environment. Your presence and contribution are invaluable, and together, we can ensure the Beaver Boardwalk area remains a cherished natural oasis.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on August 17! The Thistle pull is suitable for all ages, though children under age 10 should be supervised by a responsible person 14 years of age or older.
*Note: the Athabasca Watershed Council will not be in attendance for this event. The Town of Hinton is organizign the event and coordinating volunteers.
